Shedd Aquarium: Events and Activities
Shedd Aquarium is considered as one of the world’s largest museum on animals: both land and sea. Shedd Aquarium is the place where you can see thousands of your favorite animals up close. Shedd Aquarium accommodates more than 25,900 animals from all over the world.
Shedd Aquarium is open throughout the year except for Christmas. The ticket price varies according to the package one opted for. The ticket price starts from as low as $8 to as high as $27.50 per adult and $6.00 to $20.50 for seniors and children between aged of 3 and 11. A 25% discount is offered to residents of Chicago city on presenting a valid ID.
Various numbers of exhibitions are also planned throughout the year to keep visitors entertained and encouraged to re-visit. Activities and contests are also held from time to time. The current on-going contest is Ocean Literacy art contest. Students from kindergarteners till undergraduates are eligible to apply and express their knowledge about world’s ocean through art. The last date of submission is 22nd April.
The current exhibitions are Amazon rising, Caribbean reef, Water of the worlds, Oceanarium, lizards and Komodo king and Wild reef.
The current ongoing daily events are anima encounters, Marine Mammal presentations and Caribbean reef presentations while ongoing event held every Tuesday is Tots on Tuesday. ‘Tots on Tuesday’ offers activities such as story times, animal touch, dancing and singing, videos, crafts and costumed characters.
