Apart from the old buildings and historic homes Chicago is the rich land which has got a lot of historic play grounds and stadiums. Soldiers Field is one such stadium which is the home for NFL’s Chicago Bears now. The ground was broken for this magnificent field in 1922 and it was completed and opened in 1924. This was not the end to its making legacy and it was completely renovated in 2003 and thus remained closed only for one year from 2002 to 2003. This makes only a closing of one year in almost a century.

The Chicago Park District is the owner of this huge place which took almost 10 million US dollars to complete and an additional 600 million dollar for its renovation to bring it into the shape it’s in today. It remained as the site of College all star games. Holabird and Roche had the honour of designing the place and bringing this beautiful piece of art into reality. It had different playing surfaces suting his tennats in different period of time. From 1924 to 1970 the surface was totally grass which was then changed to Astro Turf in 1971 and from 1971 to 1987 the world played on the same surface. This surface was again changed in 1988 and the old grass again took over from Astro Turf. This surface is used till ate on this beautiful place. This field was given this name to serve as the memorial to the American soldiers who died in the war. Thus this name was given to this place. It can hold 61,500 seats which is still a very big count for any game.
